Knives are a passion here, and especially hand mades. My desire to make knives was born out of a very basic need to have a better tool at an affordable price. I never thought of selling a knife I made until someone else asked about it. After that first cash sale in 2005, there's been no turning back.

What started as just making whatever came to mind has evolved into a dedicated line of 5 standard models, 6 other standbys, and a continuous stream of one-offs, experiments and prototypes. Some experiments and prototypes get adopted as mainstream line items, while others that don't live up to expectation, fall by the wayside.

Inspirations come from everywhere I turn. It can be harsh here in South Texas so the tools we use have to be also. Every knife I make is made with use in mind, no matter how intricate or high end the handle materials are. I work as a "sole author", meaning that every step of the knives you see is done by only me, right down to the sheath that it rides in.

Currently I use Nicholson files, 1060 Carbon steel, O1 Tool steel, and a few select brands of Damascus. These materials, as well as the materials I select for handles, have been proven time and time again. I simply won't use it if I don't trust it... and that means you can trust it. I have knives in use in the U.K.,South Africa, Iraq, Afganistan, Canada and all corners of the U.S.A. I'm prepared to put one to use in your hand too. I'm sure we can come up with a knife that you'll trust all day, every day.
RNT Knives is a small, one man, grass roots type of shop. My entire operation is confined to the two car garage you see in the video above. This helps me keep cost down to a level the average working man can afford. I concentrate on smaller local shows to help keep more money in the community.

While many other knifemakers do teach knifemaking, most of them charge a fee, some up to $150 or more. I teach several people a year on a one-on-one basis, and have yet to charge a sinlge person. I didn't have the luxury of someone to mentor me when I started, and I'm changing that by passing along the skills and craft I've learned at no cost to those willing to commit to learning.

If you share the same passion for knives, call or come by, and let's share a cool drink and some quality knife time.
